Picking that oh so perfect name for your new baby is one of the hardest decisions ever. Plus names go in cycles. Michael is always a popular name for boys. Then there are girls' names, like Ashley, which was popular ten or so years ago.
If you need a little help while you try to find that perfect name for your perfect baby, search through the Baby Name Database over at Pregnancy.org. It has an alphabetical listing of all kinds of names. Then, when you select a name from the database that you are interested in, you can view the ranking of that name.
For the name, Tess, for example, out of 1,000 polled in 1980, it was ranked 933. In 1990, it was ranked 623, a considerable drop.

Family names are something to consider when naming a baby also. A favorite grandma perhaps...

You can drive yourself crazy over naming. I thought I had the perfect name for YEARS and then suddenly when I got pregnant, the name appeared in the top 10 most popular names of the year for babies. So we picked a different name. Turns out we had our finger on the pulse AGAIN!
