Buying Maternity Clothes on a Budget

And I agree. Here are some ways to get through pregnancy without maxing your credit cards on pregnancy wear:
1. Borrow. From your sister, relatives, friends. I'm sure they'd be delighted to see someone wearing clothes they spent an awful lot for, instead of just gathering dust in storage.
2. Choose versatile pieces. You don't have to buy a whole lot, but if you buy pieces you can mix-and-match, nobody will notice you've been wearing the same pieces. Scarves, belts, boleros, wraps and other accessories can help change the look of a basic dress or blouse.
3. Choose clothes that will grow with you. Look for stretchy materials and adjustable waistlines. These pieces will be your staple throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
4. Do not feel bad buying stuff for the first trimester. You can wear these items again once the baby is born, before you regain your pre-pregnancy shape.
5. Shop wisely. Lots of maternity shops (especially online) will have a few items on sale, items from the previous season, or perhaps in broken sizes. Look for suitable clothes in non-maternity sections, too. I don't know if I just happen to be pregnant at the right time, but at the moment, I see "pregnant-look" blouses and dresses with empire cut waists and balloons over the belly and reaches up to the upper thighs.
