What factors do you consider important when choosing baby names? Something cool? Something classic? Something that starts with a specific letter? Something unique? Something popular?
Well, I don't know about you, but here are some things I consider important:
1. It should sound nice, something that rolls off the tongue easily, and goes well with our surname.
2. The spelling shouldn't be too complicated. Having an unusual full name myself, I know how irritating it can be if you always have to spell out your name to other people.
3. Not too unique, not to common. I don't want people to respond with "Huh?!" when I tell them my baby's name, nor do I want my child to have the same name as 5 others in his/her class.
4. Not too cute. Some names are great for children, but sounds ridiculous for adults.
5. Ancestry. Ours being a binational marriage, I want a name that represents, even if just a touch, my baby's roots.
Have you chosen a name yet? How did you decide on that?
