Got a Push Present Already, Daddy?

A push present, also called "baby mama gift" or "baby bauble" is a present a new father gives a new mother upon the birth of their child. Y'know, a gift for her efforts in pushing the baby out. Hey, before you start guffawing, read these articles from FoxNews and NY Times, and you'll see that it's a tradition that may have originated in Europe and Asia, but is also gaining popularity in the US. Usually (but not necessarily) a piece of jewelry such as an eternity ring (in photo) is commonly given.
I have to admit that even I have never heard of push presents until just a few weeks ago. Maybe that's the reason why I didn't get one for my first delivery, heh. Am I going to ask for one now? Nah. Nothing material, at least. A bit more time, a bit more help in the home, a bit more tender loving care... that's what a new mother really needs.
