Highly Recommended: Dr. Sears' Breastfeeding Guides

If you're planning on breastfeeding your child and think that it's an instinct that will come naturally when the baby is there, you might be in for a shock. Although it's the most natural thing is the world for mothers to do, breastfeeding in today's world requires determination, patience, and skills that unfortunately, for many women, do not come instinctively. From personal experience, I can say that it is not easy, it is painful, it is a social issue for some, and a less determined mother could easily give up without adequate support from the people surrounding her.

In my case, I am glad I had encouragement and support from family and friends, and Dr. Sear's Breastfeeding Book>. It's one reference I highly recommend particularly to new mothers who would like to breastfeed. The book covers everything, from the basics, to the problems one might encounter, up to weaning. For those who prefer visuals, a smiliar version, also by Dr. sears, et al, is also available on DVD, in three versions: Breastfeeding Basics DVD, Breastfeeding Comprehensive, and Breastfeeding Intensive.
