A new book is taking the mystery out of infertility.
The Fast Track to Fertility: A Modern Guide to Overcoming Infertility is written by two of the country's most respected authorities on reproduction and infertility.
"Our Fast Track approach stresses accurate diagnosis and timely treatment to achieve the best results," added Dr. Scheiber. "But ultimately, the decision to build a family is a matter of the heart, and so many couples struggle with the emotional strain and stress of infertility with no clear path for easing that stress or finding answers. This book is for them."
The book also covers a range of infertility trends and treatments, including:
•Pros and cons of various assisted reproductive technologies (ART), including in vitro fertilization and the gamut of high-tech procedures, including GIFT, ZIFT, ICSI and FET
•Pelvic reparative surgery, both by microsurgical techniques (such as tubal reversal surgery) and by laparoscopic laser techniques
•Preimplantation genetic diagnosis
•The efficacy of ovulation inducing drugs, from older medications like Clomid and Serophene to newer drugs such as Follistim, Gonal F and Bravelle
Drs. Awadalla and Scheiber are partners at the Cincinnati-based Institute for Reproductive Health. The two put their years of expereince-and heart and soul-into the book which discusses everything from the most recent developments to the physical and psychological affects of fertility treatments.
